An independent project undertaken by Jerry Lord Associates and OCR

The Task

1.  The task was to signpost learning from Quick Start to OCR qualifications

Quick Start

2.   Quick Start, including First Steps, is a learning programme for absolute beginners or for those who need to build confidence in using ICT.  There are eight topics (nine in the advanced version) which lead from basic learning through to knowledge of what computers are used for and how that happens including early learning about Microsoft Windows.  This exercise used the advanced version.

The OCR Qualifications

3.  The OCR qualifications in this area include:

Level 1 includes IC3 and Microsoft Office Specialist units.

The Method

4.    We, first, examined, in detail, the Topics covered by Quick Start and attributed to those Topics the relevant parts of the qualifications.  Details are at Annex 1.

The Exercise

5.    The exercise concentrated on signposting against New CLAIT Level 1, Units 1, 3, 12, 13 and 14.  There units are:

The detailed analysis of the signposting is shown in Annex 2.

Summary

6.         From the analysis, it will be seen that:
